Originally from Chicago, Goins graduated from Illinois College and spent the next year on the road with a band. After that, he moved to Nashville to chase a girl and spent the next seven years working at a nonprofit. He now writes and speaks for a living and runs an online business helping writers and creative entrepreneurs chase their dreams.

His work has been featured in the Washington Post, USA Today, Entrepreneur, Forbes, and Psychology Today. He and his wife, Ashley, live just outside of Nashville, TN with their son and dog.
Jeff believes that one of todays greatest tragedies is no one really wants to commit to anything. He says that because of that, people are unable to sow mastery of any valuable skills.
Jeff tells us that his greatest development happened when he fully committed to less than ideal circumstances. He goes on to explain that even though he didn’t love many of his employment situations he gave them everything he had and because of that he developed strong skill sets.
Once Jeff experience the value of a strong skill set won by commitment he continued to do commit in a number of roles. Each time not really loving what he was doing, but all the time getting better and better because he was stacking skill sets on top of each other.
When it finally came time that Jeff found something he could do for himself; he had all the necessary skill sets to have the greatest chance of success in the venture.
The take away for you in this message is this: Even if your not doing something you truly love right now! If you fully apply yourself to what you’re doing. Even work that you don’t love has gifts that can prepare you to take full advantage when an opportunity that you will love comes along. Try committing and experience the gifts that a true commitment to excellent and dedication has to offer.
